Top 3 Reasons to Move to Atlanta this Summer

Those of us that currently live here know that Atlanta has many great things to offer. The city has been recognized as having an exceptionally high quality of life thanks to its thriving economy (ranked eighth largest in the country and seventeenth largest in the world), temperate climate, relatively high median salary and low cost of living.  This year we have seen the Atlanta housing market begin an upward turn since the housing market collapse began in 2007.  Now is the time to get in on the real estate in this city! The current median sales price of a home within the city is about $248,000, but that will increase significantly as inventory continues to decrease. Below are the top three reasons to move to this exciting city this summer. Atlanta is Great for Entrepreneurs

Atlanta entrepreneurs enjoy the perfect environment for starting and growing a business. According to a recent Atlanta Journal Constitution article, “There are really a lot of proactive efforts to engage small businesses and entrepreneurship here,” said Nancy Flake Johnson, president and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Urban League. “The political climate is supportive.”  In addition, The Global Entrepreneur Indicator (GEI), a semi-annual survey of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), found that Atlanta entrepreneurs report a strong outlook for 2015. The EO Atlanta chapter comprises more than 150 entrepreneurs with businesses over $1M in revenue. The climate in Atlanta shows signs of getting even stronger as EO Atlanta entrepreneurs expect further gains over the next six months in employment, net profit, and business revenue.

In addition, Atlanta respondents overwhelmingly reported that the current economic climate is a great one to start a business.  The large number of nearby Universities, Colleges and Trade schools  serve as excellent sources of talent. With a relatively low unemployment rate of 6.3 percent, Georgia also is a great place to look for a job. With a cost of living significantly below the national average and a high per capita income, it’s as much a mecca for job seekers as it is for employers.

A Mouth Watering Selection of Top Restaurants

According to Stephanie Karina (15 Reasons to Love Atlanta), if you’re a foodie, this is the city for you. Atlanta’s cultural diversity has resulted in an eclectic mix of restaurants that are celebrated by diners and critics alike.  The dining scene is incredible with tastes that will satisfy even the pickiest palates. There are Atlanta’s famous food trucks; frequent food and drink festivals; upscale restaurant weeks in neighborhoods like Buckhead and Inman Park; the dinky, little Asian restaurants along Buford Highway; and establishments like the Majestic Diner or Gladys Knight’s Chicken and Waffles.  There are hometown traditions like The Varsity, Chick-fil-A and Mary Mac’s Tea Room as well as newcomers such as The Southern Gentleman, a gastropub featuring farm-sourced ingredients located in the new Streets of Buckhead development.  Whatever your taste there is a local eatery that will satisfy.

The Best Local Attractions

Every big city has it’s share of local attractions that draw people from across the country to visit; New York has Times Square, Arizona has the Grand Canyon and Los Angeles has the “Hollywood” sign.  But, Atlanta has so many things to see and do it may be difficult to name them all.  From the historic King Memorial and the birthplace of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., to one of the world’s largest aquariums the Georgia Aquarium, to The World of Coca-Cola. Two of Atlanta’s newest attractions The College Football Hall of Fame and The Civil Rights Museum are sure to bring even more visitors to the city for years to come. But, the beauty and intrigue of historic Atlanta sites and landmarks such as The Fox Theatre and The Margaret Mitchell House remind visitors of the city’s past amid a thriving urban setting.

Despite its reputation as a bustling metropolis, Atlanta has ample green space. In fact, nearly 200 acres of rolling hills, sprawling trees, and fresh air are located right in the heart of Midtown. Piedmont Park has not only been a historic icon of the city since the 19th century; it also is home to several festivals and concerts throughout the year. Spread across 3,200 beautiful acres, Stone Mountain Park is Georgia’s most-visited attraction. The park itself is built around the world’s largest piece of exposed granite. You can see all the way to downtown Atlanta from the top! There are a ton of family activities to enjoy including the Yellow Daisy Festival, Stone Mountain Christmas, and Snow Mountain.

In Atlanta, fine dining, shopping, and rich history combine with amazing attractions to create a city with Southern charm and world-class sophistication. It’s easy to see why Atlanta, Georgia is one of the most popular destinations in the Southeast to live.
